Perhaps you’ve been working on a “man cave” for the past few months, or you’ve finally installed that wet bar in the basement near the home theater area. Regardless of where it is, it’s important that your new bar has the proper lighting. At our lighting showroom in Scottsdale, we can help you find the ideal pendants, lamps, and more for your new space, and before you know it, you’ll have the perfect spot to enjoy a drink with friends!
The main piece of any bar is the bar itself. You spent months picking out the perfect countertop, and whether it’s stone or wood, you want to show it off to friends and family. You also want to accentuate the stools and other seating options, and placing under cabinet light underneath the counter will brighten the space and draw the eye to the bar. If you have a glass bartop, consider placing LED strips along the edge to provide both up- and down-lighting for that extra ambiance.
Above the Bar
Depending on the size and configuration of the space, you may only need a couple of fixtures above the bar. You don’t want the space to be too bright, since you’re going for that intimate, inviting atmosphere. Two or three pendant lights above the bartop should do the trick, and we can help you find the style and finish that match your bar’s design and architecture.
Illuminate Your Selection
If you’ve restored a mid-19th century bar cabinet, complete with mirror and shelves, then you want to show off the finished project. You’ll be displaying your favorite spirits and liquors, and a recessed light or two above the bar cabinet and shelves can provide the perfect accent. As with the countertop, if you have glass shelves, consider adding some LED strips for some dramatic flair. There are ways to angle and hide the strips so that they provide light without being obvious.
If your bar area has room for a few high top tables or additional seating options, it’s important to make sure these spaces have the appropriate lighting. Small table lamps or wall sconces can provide enough light without oversaturating the space with illumination. You want to create the right ambiance in your bar area, and traditional glass table lamps or wall fixtures can set the perfect mood. Also, if you have a pool table, don’t forget about the traditional pool table light!
